VIDEO GAME (WIP)

Game development for a third person puzzle genre made in Unreal Engine 4

Learnings

  • Sitting on the sofa for 48hr was uncomfortable :(
  • Relocation to desk was game changing for productivity and wellbeing
  • Early planning helped to rescope project quickly when issues arose
  • Game engine packaging problem realigned expectations through triage
  • Take regular breaks!

Mechanics

Player character is lost on set and trying to return to their trailer

Player character requires unique collactables to interact with in-world objects, triggering movement of obstructions to exit each area

PERSISTENT AMBIENCE

Looping attenuated audio encapsulating scenes

Placement to evoke sensory perception of physical area, providing real-world player with contextual descriptions of environments

COLLISION Triggers

PlayerCharacter object interaction generating randomly mapped audio
(pitch oscillating)

Placement to build immersion or emotion for real-world player in-game during journey
